IA1 Showcase Reflection

Last month, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend and present at IA1 Launch party and showcase. It was a chance for humanities researchers and students to come together and share their work with each other and other attendees. My ReMedia labmate, Odessy Liu, and I did poster presentations (which you can see in a previous blog post here) about the work we have been doing with our supervisor and ReMedia’s PI, Dr. Emily Christina Murphy. It was exciting to talk about the exciting things Murphy and I have in the works and the showcase awarded me a great deal of experience I will be carrying forward into my work with ReMedia and beyond.

Preparing for the showcase was a great learning experience. This was the first time I had done a poster presentation and I had to quickly learn how to put together a poster and how to best present the highlights of our research in an appealing and accessible way. Choosing which items of the archive to put with the poster was a small way of practicing curation and considering what items would stand out and best represent the archive.

It was exceptionally rewardings to present at the showcase, hear about the amazing projects happening in IA1, continue learning from Murphy and other researchers and students, share about the research Murphy and I have been doing, and build experience in presenting research overall.
